What problem does it solve?

Enables accurate mapping of EMA centrally authorised product presentations to RxNorm/OMOP standard concepts, reducing manual effort and improving consistency in vocabulary mapping for observational research.

  • Locate unmapped products: Identify EMA product folders that have parsed data but no mapping.tsv so mappers can pick the next item to work on.
  • Guided mapping workflow: Instructs how to read ema-info.txt and parsed_data*.tsv to create one mapping.tsv row per ma_number and how to handle biosimilars and EU-only products.
  • Validation and flagging: Describes validation steps and when to create flag.txt for items that require manual review or lack suitable RxNorm concepts.
  • Integration guidance: Explains how to regenerate combined overviews and cross-check mappings with repository scripts.

Quick Start

Run the find_unmapped.py script in the .claude/skills/map-ema-drugs directory to list product folders that need mapping.
