What problem does it solve?

This Skill automates the computation of key biomechanical metrics like Center of Mass (COM), Extrapolated Center of Mass (XCoM), Base of Support (BoS), and Margin of Stability (MoS) from motion capture data, eliminating manual processing and ensuring consistency.

Core Features & Use Cases

  • COM & XCoM Calculation: Computes whole-body COM and XCoM using a validated proxy and Hof's inverted-pendulum model.
  • Marker-Based BoS: Generates a Base of Support polygon using foot landmark markers, even without force plates.
  • Signed MoS: Calculates the signed minimum distance from XCoM to the BoS boundary, indicating stability.
  • Use Case: Analyze the stability of athletes during perturbation tasks by automatically processing C3D files to generate COM, XCoM, BoS, and MoS time series.

Quick Start

Use the v3d-com-xcom-bos-mos skill to process the C3D file located at '/path/to/trial.c3d' using the anthropometric data from '/path/to/subject.yaml' and event information from '/path/to/events.xlsm'.
