What problem does it solve?
This Skill provides access to the USGS earthquake catalog, enabling the analysis of seismic events, particularly those potentially induced by oil and gas operations.
Core Features & Use Cases
- Query Earthquake Data: Search for earthquakes by time, magnitude, location (radius or bounding box), and depth.
- Induced Seismicity Analysis: Focus on shallow events (<10 km) and correlate them with known injection zones.
- Use Case: Investigate a swarm of earthquakes near a disposal well in Oklahoma by querying events within a 50km radius and a depth of less than 8km over the past year.
Quick Start
Query for earthquakes in Oklahoma with a minimum magnitude of 3.0 between January 1st, 2023 and December 31st, 2023.
