What problem does it solve?

Triggers connect external events to Windmill scripts and flows, reducing manual integration effort and enabling near-instant automation.

Core Features & Use Cases

  • Define trigger configurations via YAML files named {path}.{trigger_type}_trigger.yaml to route events to the correct script or flow.
  • Supports a broad set of trigger types (HttpTrigger, WebsocketTrigger, KafkaTrigger, NatsTrigger, PostgresTrigger, MqttTrigger, SqsTrigger, GcpTrigger), enabling cross-system event-driven automation.
  • Use cases include webhooks from SaaS apps, data-change events from databases, and queue messages that must kick off deterministic actions.
