What problem does it solve?

Stylix solves the problem of maintaining a consistent, visually coherent theme across a NixOS setup by automating system-wide colors, fonts, and wallpapers derived from a palette, without manual per-application tweaks.

Core Features & Use Cases

  • Unified theming: applies color schemes, fonts, and wallpapers across NixOS, Home Manager, and multi-platform environments.
  • Wallpaper-driven palettes: auto-generates color schemes from wallpapers and supports Base16 integrations.
  • Per-target theming: selectively enables theming for terminals, editors, and desktop environments.
  • Use Case: You manage multiple machines and want the same look across system and user applications with reproducible config.

Quick Start

To begin, enable Stylix in your configuration, choose a base16 scheme, and specify a wallpaper image, for example:

  • stylix.enable = true
  • stylix.base16Scheme = "<path-to-scheme>"
  • stylix.image = "<path-to-wallpaper>"
