What problem does it solve?

knup is the single command to deploy all changes to the Cinc repo. No arguments, no flags. It automates detection of git-modified files, bumps cookbook versions, uploads changed artifacts to the Cinc server via knife, and commits and pushes the repo.

Core Features & Use Cases

  • Detects changes using git ls-files -mo and targets cookbooks, nodes, roles, and data bags.
  • Bumps cookbook versions (patch) before uploading to the Cinc server, ensuring traceability.
  • Uploads cookbooks, creates/updates nodes and roles from JSON definitions, and uploads data bags securely.
  • Commits all changes and pushes them to the repository, with automatic messaging.
  • Notifies the user on completion with a desktop alert and audible cue.

Quick Start

Run knup from the cinc repo to deploy all changes to the Cinc server and push them to git.
