What problem does it solve?

Provision and join a new Kafka broker into a KRaft cluster or connect to an externally managed Kafka cluster to scale capacity and improve resilience.

Core Features & Use Cases

  • Mode A: Add a broker to an existing KRaft cluster and join it to the cluster.
  • Mode B: Point hook to an external Kafka cluster to reuse an existing deployment.
  • Simplified bootstrap that uses environment variables like KAFKA_NODE_ID, KAFKA_CLUSTER_ID, and KAFKA_QUORUM_VOTERS to configure the broker and start it reliably.

Quick Start

Run the bootstrap-kafka-broker script on a new broker VM after configuring KAFKA_NODE_ID, KAFKA_CLUSTER_ID, and KAFKA_QUORUM_VOTERS to join the cluster.
