What problem does it solve?
This Skill enforces a canonical GitHub labeling taxonomy to prevent label sprawl and ensure consistent categorization across issues and pull requests. It centralizes governance around labels so teams don't create ad-hoc labels or diverge on conventions.
Core Features & Use Cases
- Enforces that every issue has a single type label and a defined priority, with optional area, status, impact, or domain labels according to the taxonomy.
- Validates labels against the canonical labels.yml, preventing creation of undefined labels and guiding users to closest matches when needed.
- Provides a pre-flight protocol for label operations, including taxonomy read, label existence checks, and enforcement of exclusivity rules.
- Use cases: labeling a new issue with the correct type/priority, suggesting appropriate labels for a description, and standardizing labels across repositories.
Quick Start
To label an issue, apply the required type and priority from the taxonomy, then add relevant area/status labels as available.
