Run npx skills find followed by keywords describing your task, such as npx skills find react performance. You can also browse the skills.sh leaderboard to see the most-installed skills by category before searching.
Use npx skills add with the owner/repo@skill format, for example npx skills add vercel-labs/agent-skills@react-best-practices. Add the -g flag for global user-level installation and -y to skip confirmation prompts.
Check three signals: prefer skills with 1K+ installs, favor official sources like vercel-labs or anthropics, and verify the source GitHub repository has a reasonable star count. Be cautious with anything under 100 installs.
If npx skills find returns no relevant results, the agent can handle the task directly with its general capabilities. For recurring needs, you can create your own skill using npx skills init.
Run npx skills check to see which installed skills have updates available, then run npx skills update to update all installed skills to their latest versions.
