What problem does it solve?

Fail2ban protects VPS servers from brute-force login attempts by automatically banning IPs that show repeated failed authentication, reducing attack surface and log noise.

Core Features & Use Cases

  • Install and configure Fail2ban on Linux servers (Ubuntu/Debian/RHEL-based) to protect SSH, web services, and other login-enabled services.
  • Create and tune jail configurations (e.g., sshd) with bantime, findtime, and maxretry to automatically ban suspicious IPs; monitor and manage banned IPs.
  • Integrate with iptables/UFW firewalls and provide maintenance commands to verify status and unban IPs.
  • Use case: Secure a new VPS by automatically blocking brute-force attempts while maintaining normal access for legitimate users.

Quick Start

Install Fail2ban on your VPS and enable a basic SSH jail to start blocking brute-force attempts.
