SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill includes references (resource) components.

What problem does it solve? Work emails often bury the ask, misread the reader's emotional state, or damage relationships when delivering bad news. This Skill applies proven communication frameworks (BLUF, SCQA, MECE, Smart Brevity, Cialdini, Voss, Crucial Conversations) so every email is classified, structured, and edited for a busy reader who must act in one read. ## Core Features & Use Cases - Situation classification: Identifies whether the reader needs a practical, emotional, or social response before drafting, preventing tone-deaf emails. - Situational modules: Loads one of five framework modules based on the email's job: asking for something (Cialdini), pushing back (Voss, Fisher/Ury), raising a concern (STATE, NVC), owning an incident (Difficult Conversations), or announcing a change (Made to Stick). - Structured drafting and editing: Enforces BLUF subject lines with keyword tags, SCQA reasoning, MECE supporting points, a strict word budget, and a Bernoff/Garner edit pass that cuts filler and passive voice. - Use Case: Your head of sales wants a commitment to ship Salesforce sync by a date engineering cannot meet. The Skill drafts a reply that states the no up front, acknowledges the underlying interest, cites the rate-limit constraint, and offers two dated alternatives. ## Quick Start Ask the assistant to write a reply to a colleague pushing back on a deadline, or paste an existing draft and ask it to tighten the email using the email-writer skill.

FAQPage Schema
How do I write a professional email that gets a fast response?▼

Use a BLUF structure: a subject line with a keyword tag like ACTION or DECISION, a first sentence stating the purpose and required action with a date, and a body under 250 words. This Skill automates that structure and adds a situational module based on what the email must accomplish.

How do I say no to a deadline or push back on a request by email?▼

State the no in the first line without apologizing, label the other person's underlying interest, cite an objective criterion like a measured constraint, and offer at least two alternative options. The pushback module applies Voss labels and Fisher/Ury interest-based negotiation to do this.

Can this skill improve an email draft I already wrote?▼

Yes. Paste your draft and it runs the classification, module selection, and the Bernoff/Garner edit pass on it, then shows the rewritten email plus the three biggest changes and why each helps the reader.

What frameworks does the email writer use for difficult conversations?▼

For concerns and feedback it uses Crucial Conversations STATE and NVC OFNR; for incidents and apologies it uses Difficult Conversations with a contribution-over-blame approach. Every point points forward at what the fix unlocks rather than backward at what someone failed to do.

What formatting rules does the email output follow?▼

Output is a subject line with a caps keyword tag, a body of roughly 120 to 250 words, dates in DD-MM-YYYY format, and no em dashes, semicolons, exclamation marks, or emojis. No signature block or filler sign-off is added unless requested.
