What problem does it solve?

Enable Java applications to orchestrate durable, fault-tolerant workflows with the Durable Task Scheduler. The Durable Task Scheduler enables deterministic execution and reliable state management for long-running processes across distributed components.

Core Features & Use Cases

  • Deterministic orchestrations: Guarantee replay consistency when workflows resume after interruptions.
  • Pattern support: Function chaining, fan-out/fan-in, sub-orchestrations, human interaction, monitoring, and eternal orchestrations.
  • Environment flexibility: Run orchestrations in on-premises, cloud, or containerized deployments using the Java SDK and Azure-managed connectors.
  • Use Case: Orchestrate order processing, data pipelines, and long-running business processes with built-in retries and state persistence.

Quick Start

Install the Durable Task Java SDK, implement an orchestration via TaskOrchestrationFactory and TaskActivityFactory, and run against a local DTS emulator or your scheduler endpoint.
