SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve? AI agents often stall mid-task by asking questions in plain prose, which ends the turn without completing the work. This Skill enforces a consistent rule: every decision, clarification, or approval request goes through the structured question tool, and when no user is available, the agent resolves the decision itself and keeps going. ## Core Features & Use Cases - Structured Questioning: Presents decisions as labeled options or open-ended free-text prompts via the question tool, one question per concern. - Autonomous Fallback: Handles two no-user scenarios — the question tool being absent, or a [Never-Ask] response — by re-evaluating options for headless execution and proceeding. - Safety Guardrails: Never auto-approves destructive, irreversible actions like deleting branches or dropping data; prefers text-only, non-interactive, minimal-scope paths. - Use Case: During an unattended eval run, the agent needs to pick an auth strategy. Instead of stopping to ask, it selects the best non-interactive option, states its reasoning, and continues the task. ## Quick Start Ask the agent to use the compose:ask skill whenever it needs a decision or approval so it routes questions through the question tool and never stalls the task.

FAQPage Schema
How do I ask the user for a decision inside an AI agent loop?▼

Call the question tool with structured options, each having a short label and description, instead of writing a prose question. A natural-language question ends the turn without finishing the task, while a tool call keeps the loop alive.

How should an AI agent handle questions when no user is available?▼

When the question tool is absent or returns a [Never-Ask] response, the agent picks the best option for headless execution itself, states its choice and reasoning, and continues. It prefers text-only, non-interactive, minimal-scope paths.

Can an AI agent auto-approve destructive actions like deleting branches?▼

No. Destructive, irreversible actions such as deleting branches, dropping data, or force-pushing are never auto-approved. Without explicit confirmation, the agent chooses the non-destructive path and continues with the rest of the task.

Does autonomous fallback disable asking questions for the rest of the session?▼

No. Autonomous resolution applies only to the current question. At the next decision point the agent asks normally again, since never-ask mode can be turned off or the question tool may reappear.

How do I ask an open-ended question with the question tool?▼

Pass an empty options list to the question tool. An empty options list renders as a free-text prompt where the user types any response, covering anything you would otherwise ask in prose.
