SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve? Unfinished work sitting uncommitted in a local session is one crash or context loss away from disappearing. This Skill backs up in-progress work to a remote GitHub branch as a safety net, without merging, deploying, or ever touching the main branch that publishes the live site. ## Core Features & Use Cases - Safe branch handling: If invoked on main, it first moves the work to a new wip/<topic> branch, since pushing main would publish the site. - Scoped staging: Classifies every changed file as in-scope or out-of-scope and stages only explicit file paths, never using git add -A. - Non-blocking lint check: Runs npm lint (plus the website workspace lint when relevant) and flags failures in the report without blocking the backup. - Conventional commits: Commits in the repo's feat/fix/chore style so checkpoint commits remain valid history when later merged. - Use Case: Midway through refactoring a navigation component, you say "save my progress" — the work is committed, pushed to a remote branch, and the session continues on that branch until you say ship or park. ## Quick Start Ask the assistant to checkpoint the current session's work so it is committed and pushed to a remote branch while you keep working.

FAQPage Schema
How do I save work in progress to a remote git branch?▼

Invoke the checkpoint skill with a phrase like "save my progress" or "back this up". It commits the session's in-scope changes in conventional commit style and pushes them to a same-named remote branch, then stays on that branch so work continues.

What happens if I checkpoint while on the main branch?▼

The skill never commits or pushes main, because pushing main publishes the live site. It first creates a wip/<short-topic> branch, carries uncommitted changes along, then commits and pushes there instead.

Does a lint failure block the checkpoint backup?▼

No. A lint failure does not block the push, since the purpose is saving work even mid-mess. The failure is flagged loudly in the report so it is not a surprise when the work is later shipped.

Will checkpointing deploy or merge my changes?▼

No. Checkpointing only pushes a branch, which publishes nothing and merges nothing. Going live is a separate explicit action handled by the ship skill, and parking work is handled by the park skill.

Which files are excluded when committing work in progress?▼

Files outside the session's scope are left out and named in the report. Credential-shaped files such as .env files, service-account.json, and ga-analysis output are never committed, even if accidentally staged.
