SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill includes references (resource) components.

What problem does it solve? Teams often lack a clear, durable product strategy document, leading to unfocused roadmaps and feature lists masquerading as strategy. This Skill interviews you with rigorous pushback questions and writes a concise STRATEGY.md that anchors downstream planning work. ## Core Features & Use Cases - Structured Strategy Interview: Asks sharp questions across target problem, approach, persona, metrics, and tracks, with named anti-pattern pushback to reject vague or weak answers. - Rerunnable Updates: On repeat runs it reads the existing STRATEGY.md, summarizes current state, and re-interviews only the sections you choose to revisit. - Downstream Grounding: Produces a canonical STRATEGY.md at the repo root that ce-ideate, ce-brainstorm, and ce-plan read as context on their next run. - Use Case: A founder starting a new product runs the skill, answers the interview questions, and gets a one-page strategy doc with 3-5 key metrics and 2-4 investment tracks ready to guide planning. ## Quick Start Ask the assistant to write our product strategy doc and answer its interview questions one at a time.

FAQPage Schema
How do I write a product strategy document with AI?▼

Run the skill and answer its interview questions covering target problem, approach, primary user, key metrics, and tracks. It pushes back on weak answers, drafts the document from a fixed template, and writes it to STRATEGY.md at your repo root.

What sections should a product strategy doc include?▼

The template includes target problem, our approach, who it's for, key metrics (3-5), and tracks (2-4), plus optional milestones, not-working-on, and marketing sections. Section order is locked and optional sections are deleted if unused.

Can I update only one section of an existing strategy doc?▼

Yes. Pass a section name like metrics or approach as an argument, and the skill re-interviews only that section while preserving everything else. It also refreshes the last_updated date in the frontmatter.

What makes a good product strategy versus a bad one?▼

The skill follows Richard Rumelt's kernel of diagnosis, guiding policy, and coherent action. It rejects fluff, goals stated as strategy, vanity metrics, and feature lists in place of a guiding choice, pushing for falsifiable problems and clear commitments.

Does the strategy skill prioritize my backlog or write implementation plans?▼

No. It only produces the strategy anchor document. Backlog prioritization, product requirements, and implementation plans are handled by separate workflows such as ce-brainstorm and ce-plan.
