SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve? Users of the caveman skill family often forget the available slash commands, mode names, and deactivation triggers. This Skill provides an instant, one-shot reference card without changing the active mode or persisting any state. ## Core Features & Use Cases - Mode Reference: Lists all caveman modes (lite, full, ultra, wenyan variants) with their triggers and compression behavior. - Sibling Skill Directory: Shows related skills like caveman-commit, caveman-review, and caveman-compress with their invocation commands. - Configuration Guidance: Explains how to set the default mode via the CAVEMAN_DEFAULT_MODE environment variable or a config file. - Use Case: You forgot how to switch to the ultra-compressed mode mid-session. Invoke the help card to see every command and deactivation phrase in one glance. ## Quick Start Ask the assistant to show the caveman help card or type /caveman-help to display all modes, skills, and configuration options.

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema
How do I see all available caveman commands?▼

Invoke /caveman-help or say "caveman help" to display the full reference card. It lists every mode, sibling skill, deactivation phrase, and configuration method in one output.

What caveman modes are available?▼

Six modes exist: lite, full (default), ultra, wenyan-lite, wenyan, and wenyan-ultra. Each applies progressively stronger compression, with the wenyan variants rendering output in Classical Chinese style.

Does caveman-help change the active mode?▼

No. It is a one-shot display that never flips the active mode, writes flag files, or persists anything. Your current mode stays exactly as it was before invocation.

How do I change the default caveman mode?▼

Set the CAVEMAN_DEFAULT_MODE environment variable, which takes highest priority, or create ~/.config/caveman/config.json with a defaultMode key. Resolution order is env var, then config file, then full.

How do I turn off caveman mode?▼

Say "stop caveman" or "normal mode" to deactivate. You can resume at any time by invoking /caveman, and setting defaultMode to "off" disables auto-activation on session start.
