SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve?

Manually inspecting a page's SEO health means digging through HTML source for meta tags, canonical links, Open Graph, Twitter Cards, and JSON-LD structured data. This Skill automates that audit on the page currently loaded in a Browser4 session, returning both the raw metadata and a prioritized issue report.

Core Features & Use Cases

  • Full metadata extraction: seo.extractMeta() returns title, description, canonical, robots, Open Graph, Twitter Card tags, heading counts, image alt coverage, word count, and parsed JSON-LD blocks.
  • SEO issue auditing: seo.checkIssues() compares the page against SEO best practices and returns issues categorized by severity (error, warning, info).
  • Use Case: After fixing a page's meta tags, refresh the page and re-run seo.checkIssues() to compare error and warning counts against the baseline, confirming the fix worked.

Quick Start

Navigate to the target page with browser4-cli, confirm the browser4-seo plugin is installed and enabled via plugin-list, then ask the agent to run seo.checkIssues() for a prioritized SEO health report.

FAQPage Schema
How do I audit a page's SEO metadata in the browser?▼

Load the page with browser4-cli goto, then call seo.checkIssues() to get a prioritized issue list with error, warning, and info severities. Use seo.extractMeta() when you need the raw values for title, description, canonical, Open Graph, Twitter Cards, and JSON-LD.

How to check Open Graph and Twitter Card tags on a page?▼

Call seo.extractMeta() on the loaded page. The returned JSON includes an og object with all Open Graph tags and a twitter object with all Twitter Card tags, so you can verify social share metadata without viewing page source.

Why do seo.extractMeta and seo.checkIssues return empty results?▼

Empty results usually mean no page is loaded in the session or the page is an unrendered JavaScript shell. Run browser4-cli goto <url> first and wait for rendering to finish, since the plugin reads the loaded DOM.

Why are seo tools unavailable even though the plugin is installed?▼

The browser4-seo plugin is opt-in and disabled by default, so installing the JAR alone does not activate it. Enable it with browser4.plugins.enable=browser4-seo or browser4.plugins.enable-all=true, restart the server, and verify with browser4-cli plugin-list.

Does this tool audit page performance or Core Web Vitals?▼

No. The plugin only covers SEO metadata such as titles, descriptions, canonicals, social tags, and structured data. Performance metrics like Core Web Vitals are outside its scope and require a dedicated performance auditing tool.
