SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve?

Fuzzy, half-formed ideas often jump straight into structured elaboration before the real direction is clear, producing shallow Q&A rounds and wasted follow-ups. This Skill adds an optional conversational prelude that explores goals, constraints, and success criteria through one-question-at-a-time dialogue, then compresses the conversation into a structured ElaborationRound.

Core Features & Use Cases

  • Divergent Q&A cadence: Asks exactly one question per turn via AskUserQuestion, preferring 2-4 multiple-choice options, to surface goals, constraints, and success criteria.
  • Convergent direction proposal: Presents 2-3 distinct approaches with one marked recommendation, and requires explicit user approval before synthesis.
  • Decision-point synthesis: Maps each material decision to one ElaborationQuestion with category, 2-5 options, selected option, and a short rationale, then persists it via chorus_pm_start_elaboration and chorus_answer_elaboration.
  • Use Case: A user submits a vague idea like "improve onboarding". The idea skill offers brainstorm mode; this Skill interviews the user, proposes three onboarding strategies, and records the chosen direction as a structured elaboration round for the Chorus pipeline.

Quick Start

Ask the agent to run brainstorm mode on a fuzzy idea so it interviews you one question at a time and records the decisions as an elaboration round.

Frequently Asked Questions about brainstorm-chorus

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema
How do I brainstorm a fuzzy idea before structured elaboration in Chorus?▼

Invoke brainstorm mode from the idea skill's optional prelude after explicit user opt-in. The skill asks one question at a time via AskUserQuestion, proposes 2-3 directions, and synthesizes the approved decisions into one ElaborationRound.

What does the brainstorm skill produce as output?▼

It produces exactly one ElaborationRound of decision-point Q&A, persisted via chorus_pm_start_elaboration and chorus_answer_elaboration. It never writes files, posts comments, or creates design documents.

Can the brainstorm skill run standalone outside the idea skill?▼

No. It only runs as a sub-step of the idea skill after the user explicitly opts in via AskUserQuestion. Running it standalone or without opt-in violates its hard rules.

Does the brainstorm skill resolve or validate the elaboration round?▼

No. It never calls chorus_pm_validate_elaboration. The calling idea skill decides whether to resolve the elaboration or open a follow-up round after the brainstorm output is persisted.

Why does the brainstorm skill forbid writing design documents?▼

The Chorus pipeline already handles design through Proposal, Document Drafts, and Task Drafts stages. The brainstorm output feeds those stages through the ElaborationRound, so separate design-doc skills would duplicate the workflow.
