This skill removes the manual, error-prone work of turning issue requirements into executable BDD feature files and corresponding step definitions, ensuring tests are traceable to requirements and issues.

Core Features & Use Cases

• Feature generation from issues: Parse issue title and body to produce Gherkin .feature files with scenarios and traceability tags.
• Step-definition scaffolding: Extract unique Given/When/Then steps from feature files, detect framework conventions, and generate step definition stubs with TODOs while avoiding duplicates.
• Framework detection and guidance: Detect or infer the project's BDD framework and test directory, preserve @REQ-XXX, @issue-N, and @AC-N tags, and advise on missing dependencies.
• Use case: Convert a GitHub issue with acceptance criteria into a traceable feature file and scaffold the initial step definitions to accelerate test automation.

Quick Start

Run the bdd-author write action with an issue title and body to create a Gherkin feature file, then run bdd-author automate for that feature file to scaffold step definitions.
